The Chieftains in Concert to highlight Just Music Project

The 'sound of Wood' Concert will link our love of music to our dependence on 'tonewoods' for our beautiful musical instruments. Eighty of the two hundred wood species used in the making of musical instruments are on the brink of extinction. Just Forests are calling on the Irish Music Industry to come on-board and support our efforts. We have a partner organisation in Tanzania who are managing their stocks of African Blackwood to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. The first shipment of FSC-certified African Blackwood arrived in the UK last week

Tullamore Court Hotel 24th November 2010

The concert will feature original members Paddy Moloney, Matt Molloy, Se├ín Keane and Kevin Conneff, but will also feature guest performers from around the world including Ottowa Valley Dancers Jon and Nathan Pilatzke, New York-based champion Irish dancer Cara Butler, eight string guitarist Redmond O’Toole, harpist Triona Marshall and guest singer Yvonne Mc Mahon-Tiernan.

The legendary band will be joined by the Tullamore based St. Colmcille’s Pipe Band and Eamhain Mhacha, a band comprised of the sons and daughters of exceptional musicians from around the country.
