Castleisland Community School
Just Forests return to Castleisland Community School
13th March 2017 to 31st December 2020
Castleisland Community College in County Kerry host Just Forests Wood of Life Exhibition for the second time.
Seventy five Transition Year (TY) and 1st Year pupils in Castleisland Community College hosted a number of workshops based around Just Forests Wood of Life Exhibition today.
Just Forests wish to thank the teachers and pupils for the great sense of participation shown during the three workshops and look forward to returning to the college again. The role-play exercise "Good Forester versus Bad Forester was very much the counterpoint of the workshops.
The workshops are designed to increase student’s knowledge and awareness of the natural world around them and how their behaviour effects it. Our education resources speak to the pupils (and their teachers) on an emotional level about the personal, cultural, spiritual and economic benefits of forest conservation and nature protection. They will get pupils talking to each other about natural resources and biological diversity. Just Forests use the power of stories and animation/video and powerful interactive slides to engage them. The Wood of Life workshops will challenge all who engage with it to recognise opportunities for sustainable economic, social and environmental development.
Check out our Wood of Life introductory brochure. It shows how our workshops supports your teaching by bringing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to life in the classroom. | |
