Generation AWAKE - RESTORE
I can restore you furniture OR provide you with a hands-on DIY course in furniture restoration
Embedding development education (DE) through hands-on activity: Forest Conservation through Furniture Restoration
Do you have an old piece of furniture that needs repairing? Have you just recently retired? Maybe you were made redundant and would like to learn how to restore something yourself?
Anyhow, if you have time on your hands and you would like to do the things you have longed to do when you had a full-time job (like restoring furniture for instance)but couldn't...then why not come here to Rhode and emerse yourself in a basic furniture restoration course for beginners? You will find it powerfully rewarding and so enjoyable...
Below is an example of a previous course I gave to a number of participants at a Dublin venue.
Saturday April 6th, 2013: Furniture restoration with development education talk - a Development Perspective's Project
Venue: Seomras Sproi, 10 Belvedere Court, Dublin 1.
Volunteers returning from Zambia share their volunteering experiences with Just Forests.
There will be talks and an up-cycle workshop, and practical uses for materials workshop. The group comes from the Drogheda-based NGO, Development Perspectives and worked with Zambia-based group Barefeet.
The workshop will be an interactive way of learning about issues of sustainable living.
Wood is a part of our daily life, we use and discard so much wood. The workshop will show its participants how to reuse some of this wood, how to integrate a more sustainable way of living in their daily life.
It's open to all that want to create something and learn about how to value the wood we take so much for granted.
It will be divided in two two sections, with a workshop in the morning where we will have Tom Roche from Just Forests giving a talk and then after lunch we will have the practical section where we will show the participants how to up cycle using old pieces of wood.
Preferably there will be a maximum of 12 people. RSVP at upcyclingwoodworkshop (AT) gmail (DOT) com
All welcome.
