Ending Poverty Starts with a TREE - "now yer suckin' carbon"
There's an opportunity on the horizon. And we could make history. With just a few clicks you could help alleviate poverty, support livelihoods and restore critical ecosystems. Ending Poverty Starts with US because the pressing problems of social justice and habitat destruction must be resolved. Climate change, the loss of natural resources and the pressure on water, energy and food supplies all arise from growing consumer demands alongside rapidly rising human numbers.
The best friend on Earth of man is the tree. When we use the tree respectfully and economically, we have one of the greatest resources of the earth. Frank Lloyd Wright.

If we act now, millions could escape extreme poverty for the long-term. And do you know what could push them to tackle these two poverty-fighting issues right away? Your support for our tree planting programme.
This is a huge chance. By our very nature, Irish Charities and Corporations are a vibrant sector both nationally and internationally...let's make a REAL Change!
Be part of the solution to climate justice, biodiversity/species decline and poverty alleviation because it all starts at home with US-yes, me and you- here and now!
In our busyness we sometimes forget that we too must try to minimise our carbon output. Please go to our Now yer suckin' carbon page to see how you can have your organisation's work-related travel dealt with through our partnership with WeForest's tree planting programme. Not only will you be helping stabilise carbon emissions but you will also be making an enormous contribution to Just Forests development education (DE) and education for sustainable development (ESD) work with Irish school children.
This service is not just for Charities:
This offer also applies to Corporate Ireland. If your company would like to support this project please contact us. Qualifying charities and businesses that sign up to our Suckin' CARBON Project will get a:
- written responsible paper policy to guide your paper purchasing
- written responsible timber/wood product policy to guide your office furniture purchases.
- Suckin' CARBON badge for displaying on your website to announce your support- it's good for business
Peace of mind through independent audit:
Just Forests will be audited and you will also receive a certificate each year issued by WeForest to verify your contribution is valid-which you can proudly display on your website.

Ending Poverty Starts with US!
Keeping It Simple - First Things First!
- this is NOT a carbon offset service nor is it an 'emissions trading' initiative
- this is a way in which you can support 'AGENDA 21'-the blueprint for sustainability
- this is a way in which you can support tree planting to sequester your travel-related emissions
- this is a way in which you can increase Ireland's tree cover
- this is a way in which you can provide Irish timber for the next generation
- this is a way in which you can provide a renewable fuel (woodfuel) for present and future generations
- this is a way in which you can provide fuelwood for the 1.2 billion people living in poverty who rely on wood for heating and cooking and just boiling water to render it 'drinkable'
- this is a way in which you can support education
- this is a way in which you can stop people in poverty-stricken areas taking their children out of school to go look for fuelwood to survive
- this is a way in which you can support 'livelihoods'
- this is a way in which you can support 'Fair' trade
- this is away in which you can support 'responsible' forest management
- this is a way in which you can support tropical forest conservation
- this is a way in which you can put something back into the natural world
- this is a way in which you can give something back to tropical rainforest communities for Ireland's centuries of tropical timber imports
- this is a way in which you can promote 'sustainable' development providing a real, 'local' solution to a real 'global' problem that requires personal, corporate and political CHANGE!
- this is a very practical way in which YOU CAN BE THAT CHANGE-because change starts with US!
We also know that western society cannot continue to generate excess CO2 and expect people in developing economies to absorb it through "questionable" carbon offsetting projects. Just Forests is not offering this service (Suckin' CARBON Project) as a cop-out to anyone who is ignoring the need for 'real' personal, corporate and political change. Providing a real 'local' solution to a real 'global' problem requires personal, corporate and political CHANGE! The choices we make on a daily basis determines our committment!
Just Forests is offering this service NOT as a cop-out to anyone who is ignoring the need for 'real' personal, corporate and political change, BUT as an additional/hands-on means by which people can deal with Climate Change issues through life-style choices.
The Now Yer Suckin' CARBON Project is an opportunity for many people to address their work-related carbon emissions while contributing to Just Forests much needed development education (DE) and education for sustainable development (ESD) work:
