Irish Woodworkers for Africa protest outside Birr Castle in May 1996, against the Shell Oil sponsorship of the ‘Pavilion’ part of the Great Rosse Telescope because of Shell’s appalling human rights record in Nigeria and their role in the hanging of Ken Saro-Wiwa, poet and environmentalist, and against the destruction by Shell of primary west African rainforest.
