Avoid The KNOT
The KNOT Award is to presented to construction sites who qualify under our Forest CRIME Sites criteria
Make a PLEDGE: WE will KNOT use timber and wood-based construction materials from questionable sources that contribute to illegal logging, human rights abuse and environmental destruction.
The KNOT Award RECIPIENTS for 2011- the United Nations-designated International Year of Forests (IYF 2011) are:
Fine Gael Party for their failure to support Irish jobs in the panelboard sector by not using Irish made SmartPLY in their billboards during the 2010 elections. They used Chinese plywood instead.
Tullamore Town Council for their failure (yet again) to put their 'timber procurement policy' into practice and use Irish made SmartPLY in the site hoarding of the Tullamore Library construction site. They used Chinese plywood instead.
Woodies- see video on this page for selling 'crap', sub-standard Chinese plywood instead of Irish made 'SmartPLY.
John Sisk Builders and Colaiste Choilm (CBS), Tullamore, for their use of Chinese plywood and non-FSC certified African iroko in the construction of the new Tullamore CBS.
Previous RECIPIENTS:
Offaly Co Council
Tullamore Town Council- 2008 Tullamore Swimming Pool and 2006 Grand Canal Footbridge
Irish Aid
Westmeath Co Council
